Complaintr Docs

GitHub

Turn issue and pull request comments into complaints.

Link a repository to an application, and anyone who comments on its issues or pull requests can file a complaint by mentioning @complaintrbot.

Connect a repository

Open in Complaintr
  1. Create at least one application in Applications.
  2. In the sidebar, open Integrations, choose GitHub Issues, then click Connect a repository.
  3. Install the Complaintr GitHub App on the repositories you want to monitor and return to Complaintr.
  4. Choose a Complaintr application from Select application.
  5. Click Link beside each repository that should report to that application.
  6. Mention @complaintrbot in an issue or pull request comment and describe the problem. The assistant asks any follow-up questions and files the complaint after you confirm in a reply that also mentions the bot.

You need both the GitHub App installation and a repository link. Several repositories can point to the same application. To stop routing a repository, open Integrations > GitHub Issues and unlink it.

Report from a comment

Mention the bot and describe the problem in plain words. No command syntax is needed.

GitHub comment
@complaintrbot Checkout fails when the cart contains two items.
The page stays on the cart instead of opening payment.

The bot replies on the issue, asks follow-up questions, and shows a summary. Approve or decline in a new comment that mentions the bot and says yes or no. Mentions inside code blocks are ignored.

Reports include the repository, issue or pull request, and comment link. GitHub conversations can only file complaints; they never see your workspace.

Test it

Mention the bot on a linked repository, approve the summary, and find the report with the GitHub source in Complaints.
